I invite you to experience the Eastern Cape on one
of our
professionally guided hunting safaris. The pristine beauty that surrounds the rugged mountains of Somerset East will remain in your thoughts for ever. The
safari is based on the Kamala Game
Reserve which is home to more than 28 species of animals.
The safari will include hunts from the rolling
veldt plains to the thick mountainous bush.
Come Hunt Eastern Cape
We pride ourselves in hunts based on fair chase and ethical practices. Click here to read about our Code of Ethics.
A PH or Guide will meet you at the Port Elizabeth airport, and you will be ably assisted from there to the Kamala Game Reserve near Somerset East, which is one and a half hours drive from Port Elizabeth. You will be settled into an luxurious bush lodge, which will provide the feel of Africa, without forgoing the comfort that you are accustomed too.
The Eastern Cape/Karoo area is malaria and bilharzia free area, so no special heath precautions are necessary.
More than 28 species of game can be hunted on the Kamala Game Reserve, which means that there are no long uncomfortable daily trips. The uniqueness and size of the reserve make each day a new experience.
We offer tailor made packages and various forms of hunting that will suit you and your hunting party. These could be in the form of hunting by walk and stalk, driven shoots, or by waiting at strategic points.
Lud De Bruijn was one of the game farming pioneers in the Eastern
Cape. His passion for hunting and conservation was initiated in
1970, some 35 years ago. This was the onset of the Safari business,
known to-day as it has been all this time as “East Cape and Karoo Safaris”. Many Hunters have experienced the African hospitality and
professionalism through our Safari company. We have a log that dates
back to many of these past safaris. I, Dale Cunningham also a
qualified PH, am the son-in-law of Lud De Bruijn and also have been
drawn into the majestic beauty and nature of Africa.
I was born and bred in the Eastern Cape and speak all the locally
spoken languages. The Kamala Game Reserve is a popular well run
business, with a high level of service throughout the lodges, which
is managed by professionally trained staff. We will ensure that your
stay is memorable and will remain with you forever.
East Cape and Karoo Safaris is one of the oldest outfitters in the Eastern Cape which prides itself in its vast experience and knowledge of nature, animals and conservation. We are currently members of the East Cape Tourism Board, PHASA and ECGMA.
The staff and management will ensure that you are comfortably
accommodated in the modern bush type lodges. You will be treated to
fine cuisine prepared in the traditional South African way. Our
motto of “WE AIM TOO PLEASE” will truly be witnessed while enjoying
this most memorable safari.
Our Lodges cater for both single hunters, and for those that are
accompanied by their wives, without having any compromise to either
party.
There is an abundance of other activities in and around Somerset East, so the non-hunters will have adequate activities available if so required.
Kamala Game Reserve is also home to Sheercliff Adventures which provides an array of activities.
